• Do not duplicate barcode numbers. Each product should carry a unique number.
• Deleted numbers should not be re-used for a period of three years from the date that the last product carrying that number was issued.
• Keep text and artwork out of the light margins around the barcode.
• Use the correct barcode size. Reducing the size or truncating the barcode height, reduces its scanning capability.
• Check items like the transparency of your wrapper, the material showing through the packaging, specularly reflective materials and obscuring patterns. These all may cause scanning difficulties.
• Always consult with your printer to determine the correct magnification and bar width reduction.
